IMAGINE PLAYING a football match in front of 40,000 fans cheering your name and then at the end of the game cleaning the dressing room out! Sound strange? When the Premier League started in the 90's football clubs had apprentices. They were the young players, and today are now called 'scholars'. Back then; apprentices would have jobs to do and other duties around the ground as well as trying to make it in professional football.

It wasn't so long ago that English football had to re-vamp its offering to cement its long term future. The lure of the lira had made Italy the place of choice for the games big names. Lucrative television and media deals mean the Premier League can compete with any when it comes to profile, status and money.
